If God has work for us to do we are immortal. This is a great encouragement to us. It will not however be an encouragement to those who are not seeking God's kingdom. It will not be an encouragement to those who have a small view of God. It will not be encouragement to those who know God as Father.

All men are under sin. Sin is not something we do it defines us in our natural state. Since we are under sin, we are not good, we are enemies of God, we turn from God. Being under sin means that we sin in word and in deed. It means that we are guilty before God, accountable for our sin. It is only when we realise this that we can appreciate our desperate need of the gospel and the magnificent power of the gospel. We are as wicked as it is possible to be, but praise God a righteousness from heaven has been revealed - a righteousness that is by faith in Jesus Christ.

The natural man doesn't recognise Christ since he is spiritually dead. The natural man is proud and prejudiced. The natural man is pre-occupied with this world. Pray that the Lord will open our eyes so that we can see Jesus, make us humble and show us the folly of pursuing fulfilment in this life only.

The Jew is not saved by the law nor through circumcision. The Jew needs Christ. In the same way we will not escape God's wrath through baptism, through church attendance, through religiosity. We need Christ.

The Gospel is in opposition the the thinking of the world. The world refuses to accept that salvation is found through faith in Christ alone. The world rejects the call to abandon sin and be reconciled to God.

Having an accurate knowledge about Jesus; following other christians and performing religious ritual do not save. Being born again by the Holy Spirit through repentance & faith in Jesus Christ is the only means by which we receive forgiveness of sins and eternal life.

The gospel was powerful - to save from ALL sin & to save ALL people. It's power was due to a righteousness from God (the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ) that is able to make us righteous, being revealed. This righteousness is received by faith ALONE.
