I was brought up in a home where my parents taught me the Bible and encouraged me to discover for myself that Jesus loves me, that I was a sinner and that I needed to make a commitment to follow Jesus. It was not enough for me to rely on the fact that my parents and grandparents were Christians.
At the age of eleven, I realised this for myself. I had always gone to Sunday School and to church and had learnt lots of stories about Jesus. Yet, when I was on a Christian holiday camp God spoke to me. I knew that I was a sinner and I needed to ask for God’s forgiveness. I prayed and asked Jesus to forgive my sins.
Knowing Jesus is wonderful! I know that Jesus is with me every day and that he gives me strength.
In December 2008 I was baptised because that is what Jesus said we are to do. In our preparing for church class on a Sunday, Glyn, my Sunday school teacher, explained about baptism to me. He used the picture of Jesus dying and rising from the dead, and after the lesson I felt that the next stage in my Christian life was to be obedient to Jesus and be baptised.
