John 15v13

Greater love has no man than this, that a man lays down his life for his friends

God is love. Many people have misunderstood that part of God’s nature. The fact that God is love, however, does not mean that everything is sweet, beautiful, and happy and that God’s love could not possibly allow punishment for sin.

God’s holiness demands that all sin be punished otherwise he would not be God, but God’s love provided a plan of redemption and salvation for sinful man. God’s love provided the cross of Jesus Christ by which man can have forgiveness and cleansing. It was the love of God that sent the Lord Jesus to the cross.

Who can describe or measure the love of God? Our bible is a revelation of the fact that God is love. When we preach justice, it is tempered with love. When we preach righteousness, it is righteousness founded on love. When we preach atonement, it is atonement necessitated because of love, provided by love, and finished by love.

Were it not for love we would be lost, none of us would ever have a chance in the world to come, but thanks be to God, He is Love!!

He is holy, our sin separates us from Him, but because of His love, there is a way of salvation, a way back to God through Jesus Christ.

There’s a way back to God From the dark paths of sin.

There’s a door that is open and you may go in:

At Calvary’s cross is where you begin,

When you come as a sinner to Jesus.

General prayer points

On Sunday Gareth Davies is preaching, please pray for him, several of us heard him give his testimony at the end of Neath fair three years ago and were encouraged by what the Lord has done in Gareth’s life.

Next Wednesday we will have a midweek encouragement from Chris Rogers, he will be doing this through the rest of August.

Continue to remember those unwell. That the Lord would draw near to them.

Roy and Margaret Reese

I will attach a newsletter from Margaret and Roy Reese who are in Toulouse working for messianic testimony, it’s an update, they will be sending a video in the next couple of weeks.

Every blessing

Mark

Dear Mark & friends at Lonlas.

Zoom in on Toulouse from Roy & Margaret Reese

Thank you at Lonlas for God’s being willing to pray for us, we know that this will bring you God’s blessing as He has promised in Genesis ch 12 that “those who bless Israel will be blessed & those who curse Israel will be cursed” and as we have a close contact with many (a few 100) descendants of Jacob, renamed Israel, then the promise is for you & us.

Points to guide your prayers, each one both for praise & intercession:-

1. God’s vision for way head for our church in this ‘Covid led culture’, praise that we can meet again physically, even with masks we can sing to The Lord, unexpected benefits of our Zoom midweek prayer time is regular participation of those living at a distance eg Dr Levy, who’s grown thro’ this.

2. Kept up visits to elderly Jewish folk in their own homes, especially 2 survivors of Nazism as hidden as children. A very sick man Dr S 86, able to share Ps 22, give our testimonies, explain new birth & pray with him & wife. Hidden with him is 96yr old A, asked me, Margaret, to visit in last 2mths for 1st time. Can’t believe in God because lost her family in Gas chambers, let me pray with her & read Isaiah 53, wants me to come again.

3. Praise for Jewish friends with whom I’ve been able to keep up reading Bible regularly with over last year, eg aged 45 to 80, Mr L & Mesdames A & S, that they would come to saving faith.

4. Discipling 2 young people who got baptised last August, Dylan (Jewish) Angelique French, Roy with D, Marg with A.

5. Future baptism fixed for 19 Sept, 4pm, Valerie Jewish, came to faith in Yeshua thro’ her brother. That this would be a great witness & to the glory of God.

Thanks & Amen . Margaret from Montana where Roy’s brother is a pastor
